Grade 1: Incipient/early lesion. Pocket is suprabony, involving the soft tissue &there is a slight bone loss in the furcation area. Bone loss is minimal. Grade 2: Cul de sac means dead end street. Bone loss is present on one/ more aspects of furcation, but a portion of alveolar bone & PDL remains intact, allowing partial penetration of probe into furcation. Grade 3: Interradicular bone is completely absent. The furcation defect is clearly visible on R/Gs
Grade 4: Interradicular bone is completely destroyed similar to grade 3,
there is gingival recession making furcation opening clinically visible. |
